Dave tops kindergarten class
"I want to travel the world," 5-year old Luca squealed when asked what he wants to do when he grows up. This bubbly toddler is one of the youngest kids in the children's shelter we partnered with in Riverdale.
Luca says he wants to be a sailor because he wants to see the biggest fish in the ocean and travel to many different places.
Luca's teacher, Hazel, says the toddler is one of the friendliest kids in class. He's also very studious and active during class discussions which earned him the top honours among 30 other kids.
"He's a world of wonder cased in a tiny little body. He'd often raise his hand to ask questions. He's rarely shy and just really loves to participate in the discussion," Hazel commented. She says Luca also doesn't hesitate to help out his classmates during classwork or activities.
Luca was displaced from his young parents at the young agre of two. Both of his parents are currently undergoing rehabilitation. Oblivious to the story behind his displacement, Luca is growing up to be a kind and smart young man.
The children's shelter was able to finally get in contact with Luca's grandparents in May last year. and are now arranging the transfer of his care. Everyone continues to hope that Luca will, one day, be reunited with his parents.
But until then, the shelter, together with Hope Support Centre, will continue to nurture this brilliant young mind and advocate for his future.
